Overview of position:
- Since 2008, our client in close partnership with the govt., UN & NGOs has been addressing a range of critical emergency humanitarian situations in Somalia. Since 2016, our client Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) has been tracking & analysing human mobility in different displacement contexts, in a continuous manner.
Role objectives:
The incumbent is expected to perform the following duties:
- Support the running of DTM in Galmudug state, providing regular updates on context, including security changes is displacement dynamics.
- Provide daily support to the Enumerators.
- Support the Senior Operations & Administration Assistant in recruiting & deploy Enumerators before, during & after in emergency cases using DTM different type of tools whenever crisis occurs.
- Monitor & report on the day to day data collection & any other activities related to DTM which includes mobility tracking & transhumance tracking tool.
- Provide a final field report to the DTM Program Manager at the end of the fieldwork in each assessment, including preliminary findings.
- Coordinate & arrange meetings with Mayor’s office, govt. ministries, partner NGO’s & UN agencies.
- Ensure all data are kept safe & confidential through applying IOM’s data protection principles.
- Support the effective displacement tracking project implementation, ensure regular monitoring as per agreed timelines, prepare project status & progress reports.
- Monitor / report to IOM management any security incidents & ensure DTM data collection activities abide by security regulations.
- With inputs from the Information Management Officer, provide regular feedback to Enumerators & Senior Enumerators on the quality of data collected.
- Perform such other duties as may be assigned.
Project reporting:
- This role will work under the direct supervision of Senior Operations & Admin Assistant & the overall supervision of the DTM Program Manager.
Key competencies:
- University Degree in Social Sciences, Business Administration or Development Studies with 2 years of professional experiences or High School degree / Certificate with 4 years of professional experiences in the above fields.
- Experience in using ODK or KOBO or any mobile application which is used to collect data.
- Good knowledge of data collection techniques, including surveys, key informant interviews, focus group discussions.
- Understanding of pastoralism dynamics in Galmudug state an advantage.
- Experience conducting training & supervising Enumerators / data collection exercises.
- Experience liaising with govt. authorities & other stakeholders.
- Excellent knowledge of Galmudug state.
- Knowledge of other Somalia states, regions & districts is an advantage.
- Must have atleast 5 years of Awork experience in Africa.
- Must be fluent in English & Somali.
