Duties and Responsibilities.

Provide specialized project management support to WFP programmes to ensure that the various activities are performed within the established targets following WFP’s policies and procedures. Act as a focal point for intervention proposals from CPs including, Review of proposals along with IP caseload, geographical coverage, transfer modality and MEB rates, as well as the budget line items (keeping in mind the CSP rates). Prepare a range of reports and data analysis (e.g., food assistance needs, resource utilization, programme status, performance) and highlight trends/issues ensuring deliverables adhere to corporate standards and quality control. Ensure and/or perform accurate, timely recording of data within the specific technical area of work (e.g., assistance programmes, food security and vulnerability assessments) and consistency of information presented to stakeholders. Coordinate beneficiary data management platform (SCOPE) to facilitate assistance to beneficiaries: Liaise with internal counterparts to support effective collaboration, implementation and monitoring of ongoing programme activities. Coordinate and communicate with local partners, agencies, NGOs and government institutions to perform accurate food security analyses and to ensure efficient delivery of food assistance. Support the capacity building of WFP staff, cooperating partners and state government within the specific technical area. Act as a point of contact for resolution of a range of operational queries and problems. Oversee and/or review the work of other support staff, providing practical advice and guidance, to contribute to delivering objectives to agreed standards and deadlines. Follow standard emergency preparedness practices to ensure WFP can quickly respond and deploy needed resources to affected areas at the onset of the crisis

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Secondary school certificate. A post-secondary school certificate in the following fields is desirable: Development Studies, International Affairs, Economics, Social Sciences, or any other field relevant to international development assistance.

Experience: At least Five years experience in programme implementation, monitoring and handling food security projects in arid and semi-arid areas.

Language: Proficiency in oral and written communication in English & Somali is a requirement.

Knowledge & Skills:

  •  Good knowledge and experience with the government and other sectors; assisting with policy and strategic discussion
  •  Experience in supporting programme monitoring and implementation.
  •  Knowledge and experience of the use of beneficiary data management systems like WFP’s SCOPE is desirable.
  •  Experience in Safety Net programming is desirable and understanding of Cash based Programme in humanitarian context.
  •  Strong organizational skills, time management and ability to carry out multiple tasks successfully.
