Position: Agro Pastoral Field School Facilitator

Program/Department Summary
Somali Relief and Development Action (SRDA) leads humanitarian assistance and recovery Programs in drought, famine, floods, and conflict-affected population of Somalia particularly SOOL region in Sothern Somalia
Somali Relief and Development Action (SRDA)’s goal in SOOL region is to respond to emergencies and facilitate the transition from emergency to development. Our team is working with local communities helping to develop coping strategies, building their resilience, and improving livelihoods.
Job Summary:
The Agro Pastoral Field School Facilitator will be responsible for training community APFS/CMDRR trainees on the curriculum of the APFS extension approach and other activities related to quality training for agro-pastoral groups on modern pastoral and agric practices. S/he is to make sure that the project is implemented according to agreed plans and timeframe set in the project work plan. As stipulated in the LoA, the facilitator is expected to conclude all training, contingency planning, and disaster risk reduction plans (DRR) in not more than 3 months. S/he will be based in SRDA Office in TALEEX district.
Main Responsibility
§ Carry out sensitizations on the APFS implementation approach with the community members and the local authorities.
§ Guide the identified beneficiaries through the APFS formalization process, i.e. establishing the APFS, leadership structure, constitutions, bye-laws, registration with the community development office, and opening bank accounts.
§ Facilitate timely establishment and management of study plots, multiplication gardens, and commercial enterprises by APFS groups.
§ Monitor the APFS groups to a higher level of farmers organizations like APFS Networks and build their managerial and entrepreneurial skills to enable them to become self-reliant.
§ Organize field days as an integral component of the APFS learning process.
§ Plan and organize graduation ceremonies of APFS group members who have actively participated in the APFS process to the end and liaise with community/sub-county/district leaders to witness this process.
§ Write and submit comprehensive weekly progress reports and any other reports to your supervisor in a timely manner.
Qualifications, Experience, and Requirements:
ONLY FAO Trainined APFS/CMDRR Trainers are encouraged to apply. Please DO NOT Apply if you are NOT Certified TOT
§ Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, animal husbandry, or any other relevant field from a recognized institution.
§ Experience in implementing Agro Pastoralist Field Schools is an advantage.
§ Good communication, writing, and facilitation skills.
§ Good report writing skills are MUST and an added advantage.
§ Good command of English. Knowledge of the Somali language is an added advantage
Inventive, creative, and enthusiastic person (able to develop the best and sustainable approach)
§ Willingness to live and work in TALEEX.
§ Self-motivator, having the ability to work with limited supervision in hard to reach areas.
