Overview of the position:

• Provide safe air traffic services to aircraft in the area of responsibility in accordance with applicable regulations.

Role objective:

• Ensure aerodrome control for a safe & rapid flow of traffic.
• Comply with the procedures prescribed in the local operational instructions.
• Provide aircraft with weather & other information necessary for the safety & efficiency of their flights.
• Maintain a permanent communication on the channels assigned.
• Report air navigation warnings as needed.
• Update the flight progress table of all aircraft for which he is responsible.
• Carry out other tasks related to air traffic control which may be assigned to him by the supervisor.
• Take any initiative contributing to the smooth running of the unit.
• Trigger the appropriate alert phases.
• Notify to the supervisor of any operating anomaly, violation, incident or accident.
• Establish a report following any incident.
• Apply the provisions of the control tower manual.
• Perform other tasks requested by the Control Tower Manager / the Shift Manager & which are to the extent of his abilities.
• Gather, at 00 UTC, the STRIPs of the flights of the day & carry out the statistics in accordance with the control tower manual.
• Take charge the controllers in training at their workstation.

Project reporting:

• This role reports to the Control Tower Manager / the Shift Manager.

Team management:

• This role has no team management responsibility.

Education:

• Certificate in Air Traffic Controlling.

Work experience:

• Minimum of 2 years of demonstrable relevant Aviation experience.

Geographical experience:

• Minimum of 2 year of experience in Africa (essential).

Languages:

• Fluency in English and Somali are essential.

Other relevant information:

• Holder of a valid air traffic controller license.
