Saferworld is an independent non-governmental organisation that works to prevent and reduce violent conflict and promote cooperative approaches to security. We are preparing a proposal to establish and manage a new, innovative ‘Better Aid in Somalia’ conflict sensitivity facility, to be based out of Mogadishu and are now looking for a candidate to lead this exciting programme.
This will be a unique and ground breaking opportunity to innovate in the design, testing and implementation of approaches to conflict sensitivity in Somalia. You will work with a wide range of humanitarian, development and peacebuilding agencies to support the uptake of more contextually informed and aware programming. The facility will provide a space for different agencies to share learning about the challenges of working in the country, and how to overcome them; and provide accompaniment and advisory support to agencies in country.
The person we are looking for will have the following key areas of expertise:
· Experienced manager with significant, proven expertise in managing and overseeing multi-sectoral programmes for development, humanitarian and/or peacebuilding/conflict prevention organisations in
· Proficient understanding of discourses on conflict sensitivity, conflict prevention, gender and inclusion, rule of law and nation-building; and of the international policy environment in which these issues are addressed.
· Deep knowledge and experience of navigating the international aid system, including understanding of current humanitarian reform processes and the SDG frameworks
· Exceptional communication skills, verbal and written, especially in a multi-cultural and multi-linguistic context and targeting a variety of audiences, including donor agencies, government, and international and national civil society.
