Job description

Overview of position

CTG is looking for qualified staff as mentioned below in the TOR.

Role objectives

  •  Operate, do preventative & first degree maintenance to radio, communications equipment used in the communications centre, such as VHF, UHF & HF voice & data systems.
  •  Manage the radio network directing & relaying radio traffic as required.
  •  Support security related communications as in traffic tracking, emergency relief & all responsibilities associated to MOSS (Minimum Operating Security Standard) directives.
  •  Manage & support the switchboard as required.
  •  Receive & distribute faxes & other electronic based correspondence using the standard UN protocol for information dissemination, information technology distribution & archiving system implemented by DPKO.
  •  Maintain fax machines, digital senders & any other equipment used in the communications centre.
  •  Install & operate portable satellite terminals such as Inmarsat & Iridium.

Project reporting

This role reports to the line manager.

Key competencies

  •  Minimal 5 year experience in managing radio traffic & radio equipment.
  •  Attention to detail.
  •  Proven ability to work under pressure.
  •  Ability to work outside normal working hours if required.
  •  Good knowledge of Microsoft Office package.
  •  An industry recognized certification for heights works is required. .

This role has no team management responsibility
