ANPPCAN SOMALILAND is a Pan-African Child Rights Organization. ANPPCAN Somaliland was founded in 2008 and is headquartered in Hargeisa, Somaliland. We are humanitarian and development organization that promotes children’s rights and gender equality for girls and boys. We strive for a just society by working with children, youth, supporters, and partners. ANPPCAN SOMALILAND is affiliated with ANPPCAN, a Pan-African child rights organization with headquarter in Nairobi, Kenya.
ANPPCAN Somaliland is one of the leading child rights organizations in Somaliland and has more than 15 years of experience in delivering humanitarian and development programs across all regions in Somaliland. We strive for a just society by working with children, youth, supporters, and partners. We aspire every child to enjoy good health and nutrition; to be educated for life; to be cared for and protected.
Our programs focus on the needs of the most vulnerable populations, particularly children, adolescent girls and women. Children, adolescent girls and women are at the heart of ANPPCAN Somaliland’s humanitarian and development efforts because our experience shows that their gains translate into benefits for families and communities. Our expansive reach and long-standing reputation as a leader in the child rights distinguish us from other child rights organizations.
Kitchen gardens play an important role in food and nutrition security in agro-pastoral communities. Our program builds and supports community gardens in 6 six communities in Odaweyne, Hargeisa and Gabiley districts. We believe access to locally-grown, chemical-free fruits and vegetables is a right, not a privilege. We aim to encourage the target communities to grow and eat nutrient rich, fresh, and healthy diet.
Summary of Position:
The Community Garden Coordinator is responsible for facilitating the target communities in starting and maintaining community gardens. The Community Garden Coordinator will be under the supervision of the Nutrition Program Manager, who will provide guidance and support. The schedule for this position will be Sunday to Thursday. Work hours will be balanced to ensure it don’t exceed 40 hours in a given week.
