Country Program Coordinator, Mogadishu – Somalia-National Position (1 Position)

Position Title: Country Program Coordinator

Reporting to: Head of Program and Business Development

Duty Station: Mogadishu-Somalia

Position Status: locally hired position

Background:

In Somalia and Somaliland FCA has been working under a right to peace thematic areas since 2008 including governance and reconciliation projects and later has expanded in quality education (R2QE) thematic area.

Primary purpose of the position:

To support overall project coordination and project managers and ensure the day-to-day implementation of the FCA’s country program in Somalia under the leadership of Head of Programme and Business Development.

Main tasks:

  • Support Head of Programme and Business Development and project managers to oversee activities; plan, prioritize

and assist in allocating work assignments, ensuring they are in line with strategy and compliment the work of others.

  • Overall coordination of Country Programme, under the leadership of Head of Programme and Business Development; coordination of reporting and planning,
  • support managers to prepare timely and high-quality progress reports, programme reports, and donor reports in a manner to allow review and consolidation efficiently.
  • Coach, mentor, encourage, manage talent, and evaluate staff, act as an enabler.
  • On the job training and capacity building for project managers and ensure project manager transfer knowledge to program staff of implementing partners
  • Assess strengths and areas for opportunity in the FCA thematic sectors and determine the potential for other FCA projects
  • Coordinate preparation of timely and high-quality project progress reports, program reports, and donor reports.
  • Ensure programmes are implemented in response to the communities, and children in line with FCA principles, values and strategic plan and following FCA compliance procedures. This includes working with government and national NGO-partners to strengthen national capacity
  • Strengthen, develop, and optimise both existing and new partnership opportunities and support partnership assessment mission. Identify and source partnership opportunities
  • Delivery of high-quality programming in line with the objectives of the country strategy and in accordance with donor requirement
  • Be responsible for coordination of project activities in accordance with FCA and donor policies and guidelines
  • Monitor and ensure the technical and financial quality of the on-going program and its compliance with FCA and/or Institutional Donors guidelines
  • Help build positive relations within the team and external parties
  • Participate and actively engage in coordination meetings relevant to the program
  • Assist in the assessing new partners when relevant
  • Any other duties assigned by his/her supervisor

Experience:

  • University Master degree in a relevant field such as international relations,
  • international development, humanitarian assistant
  • Minimum five years field working experience of managing multi-donors programms
  • Proven experience as program coordinator or relevant position
  • Knowledge of program management and development procedures
  • Excellent time-management and organizational skills
  • Previous experience working in emergency or post-conflict contexts
  • Hands-on experience in financial management
  • Problem solving skills with persistent attention to detail
