Organisational background:

Action Against Hunger-USA is part of the Action Against Hunger International network, which provides humanitarian relief in over 40 countries worldwide in the sectors of nutrition, health, water/sanitation, and food security. Action Against Hunger-USA, an independent NGO, currently manages operations in 8 countries: Kenya, South Sudan, Cambodia, Tanzania, Uganda, Ethiopia, Haiti and Somalia. Action Against Hunger-USA has over $75 million in programs, and approximately 2000 staff based in in the various country offices, Head Quarter in New York City and Operational Centre in Nairobi. Additional growth is anticipated.

*Summary of Position

Under the direct supervision of the Field Research Coordinator, the Data Entry Clerk will input and update data from study participants cards into a digitized Action Against Hunger Research database. He /She will enter Study participants information on data base management in banadir Region.

PURPOSE

As a data entry, the staff will oversee the day to day updating of database information into the access databases. He/she will work closely with Action Against Hunger seconded MoH staff to collect the data from the field and provide technical support to respective field staff on identified needs.

Engagement

With the help of the field Research Coordinator, organize regular meetings with the MOH staff at the field level. • Participate in the monthly and quarterly data quality audits with the Field Research Coordinator.

Delivery

· Ensures timely submission of compiled Research reports.

· Provides support to MoH staff in the district.

· Ensure quality data collection from the supported health facilities through Relapse Nurse engagement at the district level.

Essential job duties.

• Transferring the data hard copy into the relevant data bases

• Maintaining all data bases updated new data and updating regularly the existing records in the data base

• Ensuring the accuracy of numerical and qualitative data

• Cross check and verify the data by comparing the original papers and the data bases and correct incorrectly entered data

• Maintaining the security and confidentiality of data

• Ensuring that all the data from the field are accurate and in line with study protocols

• Document and Organize and store hard copy papers in a fashionable manner for future reference

• Prepare relevant Reports as needed

• Contributing team work to accomplish the study results

• Any other task as required.

Accountability:

• Maintain safety and confidentially of the data

• Coordinate with the data collection teams and seek further information for incomplete data or any other clarification.

Working Conditions, Travel and Environment.

The duties of the job require regular job attendance at least five days per week. Must be available to work outside normal office hours or on the weekends as required.

Must be able to travel as required for standard domestic and international business purposes. While performing the duties of this job in the field, the employee may be exposed to precarious settings under high security risks and/or very basic living conditions and outside weather conditions, as well as to infectious diseases.

Required Qualifications and Professional Experience.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health or other Health Sciences

• At least 1-2 years’ experience in health and nutrition projects

• Knowledge and experience in using computer applications

Required Skills & Competencies.

• Conversant with Health Information Management Systems Data.

• Fluent in English and Somali (both oral and written) is compulsory.

• Good communication and organizational skills.

• Coping with high workload, irregular working hours, and sometimes-challenging working environments.

• Ability to enter data into a computer quickly and accurately

• Comfortable with office equipment including a computer, telephone, scanner, calculator, and photocopier

• Strong attention to detail.
