Formal Education Network for Private Schools (FENPS) is looking for Education Project Officer. FENPS is a non-governmental organization registered in Somalia, and was established in 2003 to take a role in addressing the particular needs of especially vulnerable groups in society, for example young girls in general, children belonging to minority groups, internally displaced people, refugees, returnees, the disabled and children from deprived backgrounds, who often lack education, health care, protection and livelihood opportunities. FENPS has a vision of a society where all children have access to quality education and are not subjected to any abuse. Its mission is to uplift children and allow them to grow in confidence, succeed and realize their fullest potential through guidance, education and training in secure and caring environments that are conducive to learning. The aim of FENPS is to provide youth and children with positive values and skills for their personal and national development.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Duration of the vacancy: (Maximum 1 year but can be extended)

§ The Education Officer will be assigned to 22 schools, and will monitor and control education activities in those schools;

§ She/he will prepare daily reports regards achievements and challenges whatsoever. The Education Officer will be a mentoring focal point, and lead child safe guarding and child protection components in schools.

§ He/she will be aware of all activities taking place in schools every day.

§ He/she will list children in schools before, during and after the attendance of children in every month.

§ He/she will give daily briefing report to the Project Coordinator.

§ The person is accountable to register learners befitting learning and teaching intervention,

§ Record and keep daily attendance of children befitting schools,

§ He/she will coordinate teachers and community, and will collaborate with the 22 school CECs and will consult them regularly to prevent sensitivity and any other challenges that may happen during distributing learning and teaching activities, etc.

EDUCATION:

§ Bachelor Degree or equivalent Education Faculty

EXPERIENCE:

§ 5-9 year experience in primary education field

§ Have Education in Emergencies

§ Worked with international or local NGOs in humanitarian aid context in the last 2 years

§ Previous school principals and school supervisors will add value to holder of this position

REQUIREMENTS:

§ Familiar with inclusive education gender programming in education

§ Excellent in English language, Soomaali Language in an asset

§ Good knowledge in pedagogy and child-centered teaching methodology

§ Can access to all project sites

§ Profound knowledge to the context and values of the project beneficiaries

§ Should have communication and counseling skills
