2. Job description

A. General context of the project

General context of the project

INTERSOS is planning to support the floods affected population and communities in Berdale with the provision of primary health care services through mobile clinic teams; referral health services and health promotion activities.

B. General purpose of the position, responsibilities and tasks

General purpose of the position

Ensure that all required observations, prescribed treatment and procedures are properly carried out and documented on patient’s charts or cards.

Main responsibilities and tasks

Ø Support the mission, vision, and core values of INTERSOS

Ø Have good understanding of the project activities, standards and outputs

Ø Ensure health centers and project implementation sites have all the required inputs to enable them implement quality program

Ø Conduct supportive supervision of fixed and mobile health and nutrition activities using supervision checklist constantly including on-the-job training on the findings of supervision

Ø Compile and submit quality supervision report with action points after each supervision report and follow up on the action points

Ø Ensure all facilities have adequate drugs, medical supplies and vaccines to smoothly run activities

Ø Organize and supervise mobile health activities including preparing schedules, ensuring all supplies are available and vaccines are received

Ø Conduct training needs assessment for health facility staff

Ø Participate in implementation of project staff training according to work plans

Ø Conduct training for MCH staffs, including community-based staff

Ø Compile comprehensive training reports

Ø Ensure the availability of the required registration books, reporting formats, beneficiary cards and other recording and reporting tools in all Health centers and mobile health teams.

Ø Monitor the proper use of recording and reporting tools for all health & nutrition activities

Ø Conduct on-the-job training for the staff on using recording and reporting formats and compiling accurate report

Ø Ensure accurate HMIS data is collected and submitted on time

Ø Compile quality activity report including supervision report on monthly basis

Ø Conduct regular meeting with community leaders and health committees to get feedback on the quality of the program and update them on the progress of activities

Ø Ensure community has adequate understanding of the program standards

Ø Ensure communities get accurate information on distribution plans

Ø Participate in selection, training and supervision of community volunteers especially Family health workers

Ø Monitor and support the activities of community volunteers in their activities including regular meeting while supervising health facilities

Ø Support the community volunteers in conducting home visits, nutrition screening, IYCF counseling, defaulter tracing and other tasks

Ø Maintain and protect all equipment under your custody for your daily activities

Ø Keep effective communication within INTERSOS health staff

Ø Carry out any other additional duties assigned by the project manager as may be required.

Ø Assist Monitoring and Evaluation Team in assessing areas for possible expansion;

Ø Gather and check for consistency of clinical cards data with close collaboration to senior health staffs and facilitate that these are properly transmitted to the Data Manager to be included in the database;

3. Position requirements

Education

Bachelor in medicine or public health or nurse from a well-recognized institution, with special knowledge in health service management preferred

Professional experience

At least three years of relevant experience as a health officer experience and management skills

Professional requirements

Ø Demonstrates well-developed interpersonal skills, excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, as well as negotiation skills

Languages

Excellent Speaking, writing and reading of English

Personal requirements

Ø Ability to go within district (all the remote areas)

Ø Ability to work independently self-motivated and organizes its own time and work independently.

Ø Ready to work in difficult environmental conditions

Ø Competent to work under stress as the situation may dictate.

Ø Somali national, able to work in Berdale district of Bay Region, Somalia.
