About the job:

We are looking for a highly skilled Head of Finance who will ensure sound and transparent administration of funds by providing accounting and financial management consistent with the Action Against Hunger financial management framework and local legislation.

How you will contribute

You will contribute to ending world hunger by..

Providing strategic and operational financial leadership to the program. You will be responsible for a wide variety of tasks from day to day financial management such as strategic financial analysis, budget forecasting, Mission financial planning, cash flow and risk management and providing leadership to the finance department, ensuring that all financial systems and reporting, internal controls and budgeting are conducted and delivered in an accurate and timely manner.

Key activities in your role will include:

  • Ensuring that financial and budgetary needs and constraints are taken into account in the preparation of projects.
  • Prepare financial reports and submit as per schedule.
  • Take Lead in annual review of the long‐term Finance strategy
  • Provide solutions to budget challenges and strategically utilize financial expertise to ensure availability of sufficient funds.
  • Take lead in preparation of internal audits.
  • Supervise the office disbursements, all financial activities and fiscal reporting to ensure proper allocation of funding sources and compliance with donor requirements and Action Against Hunger’s internal controls.
  • Supervise Finance team and provide capacity building.
  • Representing the mission to outside bodies on issues of finance and budget and developing a network for the exchange of information and good practice.
  • Ensuring that financial and budgetary needs and constraints are taken into account in the preparation of projects.
  • Provide budgetary inputs for donor proposals and reports including budget narratives.

Requirements

  • Minimum 6 years’ experience managing the finance functions of a non‐profit organization at Senior Management level.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Commerce or Finance.
  • Master’s degree in Accounting or Management will be an added advantage;
  • Requires extensive experience in working with computerized accounting systems, standard spreadsheet and database programs.
  • Strongly preferred to have excellent knowledge of, and working experience with SAGA and HOMERE.
  • Ability to carry out responsibilities independently with minimal technical support.
  • Play a good role of facilitator and team player in solving problems.
