FCA has been working in Somalia since 2008 supporting local peace efforts, building local governance and providing humanitarian aid. The main donors for FCA’s Somalia programme are European Union, the Government of Finland, Somalia Stability Fund and UN.

FCA is looking for the Humanitarian Adviser – Baidoa, Somalia

This is an opportunity for an experienced adviser interested in to support humanitarian project staff, ensure the day-to-day implementation and develop the FCA’s humanitarian programme in Somalia.

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • Support project managers; oversee activities; plan, prioritize and allocate work assignments, ensuring they are in line with strategy and compliment the work of others
  • Coach, mentor, encourage, manage talent, and act as an enabler
  • On the job training and capacity building for project managers
  • Be responsible for coordination of project activities in accordance with FCA and donor policies and guidelines
  • Grants management by ensuring reporting schedules, guidelines and other requirements are met as per FCA internal and contractual obligations
  • Monitor and ensure the technical and financial quality of the on-going program and its compliance with FCA and/or Institutional Donors guidelines
  • Help build positive relations within the team and external parties
  • Participate and actively engage in coordination meetings relevant to the program

Competence and Personal Requirements:

  • University Master degree in a relevant field such as international relations, international development, humanitarian assistant
  • Minimum five years’ experience of managing humanitarian programme
  • Proven experience as program coordinator or relevant position
  • Knowledge of program management and humanitarian procedures
  • Excellent time-management and organizational skills
  • Previous experience working in emergency or post-conflict contexts
  • Hands-on experience in financial management
  • Problem solving skills with persistent attention to detail
  • Fluency in English
  • Understanding of FCA’s policies and guidelines

The fixed-term contract for this position will be made until 31st December 2019. The compensation is based on FCA Compensation System and depends on prior work experience. Monthly salary includes adverse working conditions allowance and paid RnR.
