Result of ServiceThe individual contractor will be translating scripts and other information from the original English version into Somali that pertain to and are in the support of the UNODC Global eLearning Programme. Translated documents will be delivered by email, using the same format as the original document.

Work LocationHome based.

Expected duration13 working days (22 July to 10 August 2022)

Duties andResponsibilities

The purpose of this assignment is to provide high-quality translation services and proof reading of scripts from English into Somali.

Qualifications/special skillsAcademic Qualifications:

•  An advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in language, is required. A first level university degree in similar fields in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

Experience:

•  A minimum of 1 year of relevant professional experience in the field of English to Somali translation, is required.
•  Previous experience working with UN agencies, is desirable.
•  Work experience with Trados, is desirable.

Language:

•  English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this position, fluency in English and Somali are required. Knowledge of any other UN official language, is an advantage.
