DRS is seeking qualified and committed candidates for the following positions in Jowhar District, Hirshabelle State.
Position Details
Job Title 1: Project Officer
Duty Station: Jowhar, Hirshabelle State
Duration: 4 Months (December 2025 – March 2026)
Starting Date: 4 December 2025
Reporting to: Project Manager
Key Responsibilities:
- Supporting implementation of ecological and natural flood protection activities along flood-prone canals.
- Assisting in identification, selection, and mobilization of community fodder farmers.
- Monitoring and reporting on fodder planting, survival, and maintenance.
- Preparing and submitting monthly progress reports.
- Ensuring smooth coordination with stakeholders and supporting overall project implementation.
- Participating in training workshops on nature-based solutions, conflict sensitivity, and fodder value-chain development.
- Performing any other duties assigned by DRS Management.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Environmental Science, Rural Development, or related field.
- Previous experience in field-based agricultural or environmental projects (experience with FAO-supported projects is an asset).
- Strong communication and community-mobilization skills.
- Experience working with government institutions and local communities.
- Ability to work independently, travel to field sites, and deliver tasks on time.
- Commitment to DRS policies, including PSEA, Safeguarding, Anti-Fraud, AAP, and Code of Conduct.
Job Title 2: Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E)/Reporting Officer
Duty Station: Jowhar, Hirshabelle State
Duration: 4 Months (December 2025 – March 2026)
Starting Date: 4 December 2025
Reporting to: Project Manager
Key Responsibilities:
- Designing and implementing monitoring and evaluation systems for project activities.
- Collecting, analyzing, and verifying field data related to ecological, agricultural, and community-based activities.
- Coordinating with field teams to monitor project outputs, outcomes, and impact.
- Conducting field visits, assessments, and surveys to verify project results.
- Supporting the preparation of periodic progress reports, including monthly, quarterly, and final project reports.
- Ensuring data quality, accuracy, and timely submission.
- Ensuring compliance with DRS reporting requirements and donor guidelines.
- Participating in training workshops on M&E, data collection, and reporting standards.
- Performing any other duties assigned by DRS Management.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Social Sciences, Development Studies, Agriculture, or a related field.
- Proven experience in M&E, data collection, and reporting for community or agricultural projects (experience with FAO-supported projects is an advantage).
- Strong knowledge of monitoring and evaluation tools, methods, and reporting standards.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and data management software.
- Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently, travel to field sites, and meet deadlines.
- Commitment to DRS policies, including PSEA, Safeguarding, Anti-Fraud, Accountability to Affected Populations (AAP), and Code of Conduct.
Job Title 3: Agronomist
Duty Station: Jowhar, Hirshabelle State
Duration: 4 Months (December 2025 – March 2026)
Starting Date: 4 December 2025
Reporting to: Project Manager
Key Responsibilities:
- Providing technical guidance on crop production, soil management, and sustainable agricultural practices.
- Advising on crop rotation, irrigation, pest management, and soil fertility improvement.
- Supporting the identification, selection, and training of community farmers.
- Monitoring and reporting on agricultural activities, including crop growth, survival, and yield.
- Preparing and submitting technical and monthly progress reports.
- Collaborating with stakeholders, including local government and communities, to ensure effective project implementation.
- Participating in training workshops on sustainable agriculture, conflict sensitivity, and nature-based solutions.
- Performing any other duties assigned by DRS Management.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy, Agriculture, Horticulture, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
- Proven experience in crop production, soil management, or agricultural extension services.
- Strong knowledge of sustainable agricultural practices and community-based farming.
- Excellent communication and training skills, with experience in community mobilization.
- Ability to work independently, travel to field sites, and meet deadlines.
- Commitment to DRS policies, including PSEA, Safeguarding, Anti-Fraud, Accountability to Affected Populations (AAP), and Code of Conduct.
Job Title 4: Fodder Production Expert
Duty Station: Jowhar, Hirshabelle State
Duration: 4 Months (December 2025 – March 2026)
Starting Date: 4 December 2025
Reporting to: Project Manager
Key Responsibilities:
- Providing technical guidance on fodder cultivation, harvesting, and storage practices.
- Advising on fodder value-chain development, including feed quality improvement and market linkages.
- Supporting the identification, selection, and training of community fodder farmers.
- Monitoring and reporting on fodder production, survival rates, and maintenance.
- Preparing and submitting technical and monthly progress reports.
- Collaborating with stakeholders, including local government and community members, to ensure effective project implementation.
- Participating in training workshops on sustainable agriculture, nature-based solutions, and conflict sensitivity.
- Performing any other duties assigned by DRS Management.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Animal Production, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
- Proven experience in fodder production, pasture management, or agricultural extension services.
- Strong knowledge of fodder value-chain development and community-based agricultural practices.
- Excellent communication and training skills with experience in community mobilization.
- Ability to work independently, travel to field sites, and meet deadlines.
