Role Dimensions:

Role holder will work closely with Senior Leadership Team, Country and Regional Technical and Operations teams. The position is expected to be CO facing in approach, Movement facing in outlook, and to work collaboratively with Technical Experts, Programme Operations, Advocacy/ Campaigns, Business Development, Awards and HR. The Country Office has a diverse portfolio of humanitarian and development programs covering seven sectors: Health, Nutrition, WASH, FSL, Livelihoods, Education, Child Protection, and Child Rights Governance and with annual expenditure of more than USD$80 Million

ROLE PURPOSE:

To provide guidance and be in charge of identifying, synthesising, applying and sharing best practices and Impact knowledge to support and enable the design of programmes, quality improvements and decision making for the SLT. Promote evidence uptake on what works to achieve positive lasting outcomes for children across Save the Children Movement, Humanitarian Organizations, and host Government Ministries. Maintain a system for gathering, interpreting, managing and sharing huge amounts of information and documents. Working closely with Senior leadership to roll out strategies for institutionalizing learning and a culture of evidence utilization for adaptive management.

The role holder will be responsible for leadership and have oversight of the knowledge management (KM) function, building the capacity of Ops, MEAL, Research teams and managing learning processes.

Reports to: Head of Research, Evaluation, Accountability, Learning & Monitoring (Head of REALM)

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Education:

  • Undergraduate degree in social sciences, business or international development, humanitarian sector or any other relevant field and post-graduate studies in information technology

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • At least seven (7) years progressive experience managing successful humanitarian or academic research At least five (5) years’ experience in knowledge management-innovation, including relevant experience in development and/or humanitarian contexts
  • Understanding and ability to apply learning and capacity development strategies
  • Experience in managing people and teams
  • Experience working in at least one of the five global thematic areas preferred
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the development and management of data bases and/or document catalogues
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the use of SharePoint
  • Experience with web-based platforms and using information systems
  • Exceptional oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Familiarity with the state of the art in communication technology, including the application of Workplace to accommodate business related needs
  • Excellent listening, inter-personal, communication and networking skills; proven experience and effectiveness working across functional teams and in a matrixed structure; and an ability to work with diverse populations.
  • Ability to work and communicate across cultures, as part of a geographically dispersed team and across organizations and stakeholders
  • Ability to work with, and communicate with, program oriented IT professionals across the movement
  • Professional proficiency in spoken and written English.
  • Adaptable working style and effective when working in situations that effort outside the normal working hours.

Self- motivated and able to work with high degree of autonomy and without close supervision
