
Formal Education Network for Private Schools (FENPS) is looking for qualified persons with monitoring and evaluation skills. FENPS is a non-governmental organization registered in Somalia. since established in 2003, FENPS played a role in addressing the particular needs of especially vulnerable groups in society, for example young girls in general, children belonging to minority groups, internally displaced people, returnees, the disabled and children from deprived backgrounds, who often lack education, health care, protection and livelihood opportunities. FENPS has a vision of a society where all children have access to quality education and are not subjected to any abuse. FENPS mission is to uplift children and allow them to grow in confidence, succeed and realize their fullest potential through guidance, education and training in secure and caring environments that are conducive to learning.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Duration of the vacancy: (Short-term)
Location: Mogadishu, Somalia
- The monitoring and evaluation officer (M&E) will be responsible for overall monitoring of the project with an emphasis on supporting FENPS to track and report on activities and indicators.
- The officer will also lead evidence based and knowledge management initiatives and provide support to the Program Manager and Education Officer in the evaluation of the project.
- The monitoring and evaluation officer (M&E) is responsible to monitor periodically the learning and teaching Activities, enrollment, attendance and drop out of learners, distribution school equipment and education supplies, control uses of hygiene promotion supplies and check plan of activities developed, mentor teachers, CECs and learners.
- The M&E officer has to maintain updating the number of students who go to 26 schools which provide accelerated basic education (ABE) services at Deynile and Kahda districts in Banadir region, and take photographs on activities carried out
- Follow up report of the activities plan and information related with any irregularity and observations identified,
- In coordination with BRA Directorate of education and concerned personnel from the MOECHE, the M&E officer will list and specify the sex and age of children per each school and collect daily attendance sheets of the teachers at the end of every month.
- The M&E will be in charge to mentor 190 teachers and 26 head teachers and ABE learners at 26 schools and report monthly the progress and required changes to Education Project Officer and FENPS program Manager.
EDUCATION:
Bachelor Degree or equivalent in social science
EXPERIENCE:
- 3-4-year experience in primary education field
- Familiar with Education in Emergencies and INEE MS
- REQUIREMENTS:
- Familiar with data collection and data analysis skills
- Excellent in English language, Somali Language in an asset
- Can access to all project sites
- Profound knowledge to the context and values of the project beneficiaries
- Profound knowledge to cross-cutting issues in education (ex. child safeguarding, inclusion children with disabilities in education, etc.)
- Should have communication and counseling skills
- Excellent in computer software programs (Ms Word, Ms Excel, Ms Powerpoint, etc.)
- Familiar with data collection applications (KoBocollect, ODKcollect, etc.)
