FCA is seeking Peace Building Manager for its Somalia Country Office based in Mogadishu. The Peace Building Manager provides strategic guidance and direction on SIDA funded Program and overall FCA Somalia work on Governance and Peace Building.

Areas of responsibility include:

1. Oversee Implementation and capacity strengthening to Governance and Peace Building portfolio.
2. Leading on capacity strengthening initiatives for Local Governance and peacebuilding Projects, conducting trainings and workshops, and mentoring and coaching to staff and local partners in collaboration with FCA Staff
3. Develop technical guidelines, tools, and training resources for FCA and local partners.
4. Promote increased participation, representation and leadership of women and girls, youth, and marginalised groups, including indigenous groups, in Local Governance and peacebuilding processes at all levels.
5. Facilitate Strategic engagement in relevant networks for enabling collaboration and profiling on Governance and peacebuilding.
6. Coordinating learning and knowledge management of FCA’s existing and emerging best practices on Governance and peacebuilding
7. Identify and support new research opportunities and collaborative partnerships on Governance and peace building.
8. Support on Program development, donor relations, donor reporting and partnerships on Governance and peace building interventions.
9. Identification of potential donors for Local Governance and peace building work
10. support and advise project teams on integrating donor strategies, priorities, and technical requirements into FCA’s Governance and peacebuilding interventions.
11. Lead the technical design for proposals, including context analysis, stakeholder mapping, and defining appropriate monitoring systems and indicators for Governance and peacebuilding components.

Grant and finance management

• The job holder serves as a budget holder for the SIDA funded program.
• Lead grant management processes related to Governance and peace building projects including reporting and donor meetings.

Competence and Personal Requirements:

• Master’s degree in Peace and Conflict Studies, Governance and Public Policy, Political Science, international relations, Social Sciences, or related fields required.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in designing and implementation of interventions in Governance, peacebuilding, social cohesion in humanitarian/development context.
• Hands on experience of managing field-based Local Governance and peacebuilding programmes, including. Conflict, Political, Economic and Security Assessment (COPESA), the integration of conflict sensitive and ‘do no harm’ strategies in developing countries.
• Experience in Governance and Peace Building participatory, community-led programming approaches, including strategies for supporting the participation of women, girls, Youth, disabled and marginalised groups.
• Experience in capacity strengthening, including developing relevant training materials, and training.
• Experience in proposal and report writing for major donors including the European Union, SIDA, USAID, NORAD, FCDO and UN Agencies.
• Experience in grant and budget management
• Experience of networking and profiling within national, regional, and global networks
• High integrity, pro-active, stable, robust character, and a good team-player
• Excellent analytical and negotiation skills.
• Proven commitment to accountability practices.
• Proven ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work with limited supervision.
• Good management, communication, teamwork, capacity building and report writing.
• Ability to work independently, set realistic goals, and work within agreed timelines.
• Excellent command of English

The fixed-term contract for this position will be made for an initial one year and half (18 Months) with possible extension and six months’ probation period, starting 1st of January 2024 or as soon as possible. The position is based in Mogadishu, Somalia. The compensation is based on FCA salary scale and the candidate’s level of experience.
