About KAALO
KAALO Aid and Development (KAALO) is a non-profit, humanitarian, and development organization with its headquarters located in Garowe, Puntland – Somalia. The organization’s vision is to alleviate poverty and injustice in Somali society by building household and community resilience and promoting equitable and sustainable development.
KAALO was established in March 1991 by a volunteer group of intellectuals just after the Somali central government’s collapse to assist the vulnerable and marginalized communities who had been displaced from their homes due to the civil war that erupted. Since then, KAALO has been responding to the needs of vulnerable and destitute populations in complex protracted emergency situations, providing both lifesaving and long-term support, complementing the efforts of the government and other humanitarian partners.
KAALO manages programs in a range of sectors including health, nutrition, water, sanitation, hygiene (WASH), education, food security and livelihoods, gender, and human rights and governance. KAALO is strategically positioned to respond to the needs of vulnerable crises – affected communities through immediate lifesaving humanitarian response programs, Recovery and resilience building programs, and human rights/governance programs,
KAALO targets vulnerable, impoverished, and marginalized community groups affected by crises including Women, children, elderly people, internally displaced persons, returnees, refugees, asylum seekers, marginalized disadvantaged rural communities, and duty bearers.

The program aims to contribute to reduced severity of humanitarian needs and displacement in Somalia (Impact), to be evidenced by the reduction in populations in IPC3+ and reduced displacement from BRCiS communities. This will be achieved when marginalized communities in disaster- prone, rural Somalia have sufficient social, financial, and environmental assets to better cope with shocks and stresses (Outcome), demonstrated by increased average resilience capacities of communities per the Analysis of the Resilience of Communities to Disaster (ARC-D) scale, increased sustainable access to safe water for domestic and productive use, increased household financial assets, and an increased percentage of early and/or anticipatory actions that are resourced locally.
SUMMARY OF JOB
BRCIS Program Coordinator will work under the supervision of the Program Director and will be responsible for coordinating and supporting the implementation of the Building Resilient Communities in Somalia III (BRCiS III) project which Supports vulnerable rural communities to cope with shocks and stresses. The incumbent will ensure the achievement of the project’s results and indicators, fulfilling the projects’ contractual obligations, and ensuring timely and quality implementation. He/she will be the program focal person in the coordination between KAALO BRCiS Program Management teams and government coordination.
