The Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) is a global humanitarian organization with a mission to work with people in poverty and distress to create just and positive change. ADRA is seeks to fill a position of Project Assistant to be based in Dollow region of Somalia.

Responsibilities:

i.Provide mentorship to female learners to ensure they enroll and are retained in school.

ii. Organize and coordinate community dialogue meetings to discuss girl-related issues in project targeted schools.

iii. Engage with the community and community representatives to understand needs and gaps in gender-related responses and programming.

iv. Ensure timely filing and documentation of girl mentorship reports, progress, and achievements.

v. To ensure the needs and voices of targeted girls are represented in project activities, plans and reports.

vi. Support in the identification of girls with learning difficulties and initiate the necessary support required.

vii. Lead assessments, information collection, analysis and use of sex and age-disaggregated data in project implementation

viii. Support the establishment and/or strengthening of inclusive child-to-child clubs in project supported schools.

ix. Support the establishment of reading corners and libraries in project supported schools.

x. Establish community dialogues to raise awareness on mitigating child protection and GBV risks to enhance girl’s access and retention in education.

Knowledge

  • Degree in Education, Community Development or Project Management.
  • 3 years’ experience in INGO or UN agencies.
  • Strong data collection and collation skills, processing, analysis, and report writing.
  • Good computer skills in word processing, spreadsheets, and database software programs.
  • Experience working with civil society groups and government authorities.
  • Good negotiating skills.
