Introduction
WVI is an international non-governmental organization with operations across different locations in Somalia. Our goal is to enhance the resilient well-being of two million children and their communities through peace, opportunity and protection. As part of our strategic objectives, we are improved the quality of Education and Life skills for children and youth in Puntland with an aim of increasing the proportion of boys are girls who are proficient in reading by age 11. Through the Unlock Literacy model, WVI envisages to increase the active participation of care givers and parents in the education of their children by involving them in out of school literacy activities. It is against this background that the HPP Project intends to provide translated Community Action modules which will support effective managing of the reading clubs.
Objective
a. Translation and proof reading of World Vision Somalia Child and Adult Safeguarding Policy from English to Somali
b. Translation and proof reading of the Reading Camp Curriculum and Community Action Toolkit
c. Designing and printing of 100 copies of the Reading Camp Curriculum and Community Action Toolkit (50 copies each)
Assignment
a. Translation and proof reading of World Vision Somalia Child and Adult Safeguarding Policy, Reading Camp Curriculum and Community Action Toolkit from English to Somali.
- Ensure high quality of translation, accurately reflecting the meaning found in the original source language (English) and rendering that meaning in the translated work;
- Technical accuracy review, including confirmation of technical terms and check against usage in the final translated documents. Review of translations prior to delivery should include checking of spelling and grammar, confirming technical accuracy, and verifying overall clarity and fluency in Somali language.
- Ensure the products have gone through a high quality human review by a Somali language speaker preferably a native;
- Directly work with the WVI project team to ensure the final products meet the specific expectations.
b. Designing and printing of the translated 100 copies of the Reading Camp Curriculum and Community Action Toolkit (50 copies each)
- Final product provided in appropriate electronic format, including web-ready PDF and print-ready files accompanied by complete InDesign package.

Period of engagement
The translation and printing assignment should be completed within 3 weeks from the award of contract.
Qualification Requirements
- The translation firm should have a minimum of 5 years of experience in technical translation in multiple sectors and various clients;
- Expertise with translation of legal documents and texts on education and child protection; Previous experience in translations for INGOs in Somalia would be an asset;
- Technical competencies and qualifications of the proposed translation team should be demonstrated, including CVs;
- Certifications of the firm or individual such as ISO standard or membership with the International Association of Conference Translators (AITC), or similar internationally recognized certifications entity is desired;
- Proven ability and capacity to deliver translations to meet tight deadlines.

- Willingness and flexibility to work within the required deadline. (20%)

As part of the consultant selection process, the best candidates will be requested to prepare an inception report and make a presentation of the same to the WVI Technical Team to inform the final decision on award of the contract.
