Overview of Position

  • Our clients Somalia team is implementing frontline activities as well as taking the lead in coordinating the Camp Coordination & Camp Management (CCCM) cluster to improve the coordination, delivery & monitoring of humanitarian services to vulnerable populations living in communal settings.
  • Under the overall supervision of the CCCM National Program Officer & the Site Development Engineer & the direct supervision of the Senior Project Assistant, the Field Assistant will be responsible for supporting our clients site maintenance & improvement works.

Role Objectives

  • Assist in monitoring all site maintenance & improvement works & providing timely technical feedback to contracting companies & workers.
  • Report on the daily progress of work in the site & alert the Site Development Engineer on any actual or potential shortcomings in construction works.
  • Maintain regular communication with construction companies implementing works for our client in order to support coordination works at site level.
  • Actively assist joint assessments, needs analysis, identification of gaps & monitoring & evaluation activities.
  • Assist the coordination of the procurement of sector related materials or equipment, this includes aiding in the preparation of bid documents with inputs on, among other things, technical issues & quantity.
  • Participate in studies on feasible options for identified adequate IDP sites in close cooperation with local authorities, community representatives & other humanitarian & development agencies.
  • Provide technical assistance for other programs in EPC as needed.
  • Perform any other duties as may be required.

Project Reporting

This role works under the overall supervision of the CCCM National Program Officer & the Site Development Engineer & the direct supervision of the Senior Project Assistant

Key Competencies

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited academic institution, with three years of relevant professional experience or a high school certificate / diploma with five years relevant experience.
  • Experience in monitoring the development works in the relocation sites.
  • Experience in organization, delivery & monitoring of humanitarian services to community.
  • Experience in the complex field setting, preferably in Somalia or same region with direct experience in Baidoa, Somalia being considered as an advantage.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office, in particular Word & Excel.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain integrity in performing responsibilities assigned.
  • Ability to pay close attention to details, take initiative & work with minimal supervision.
  • For all applicants, fluency in English & Somali both writing & speaking is required
  • Fluency in Maay dialect is an added advantage.
