Trocaire Somalia has supported health service delivery in the Gedo region of Somalia for the past 29 years. On average, about 19,000 people use the health facilities every month. Our primary health units, health centres, hospitals and referral health centres deliver quality essential health services in Dollow, Luuq, Belet Hawo, Garbaharrey and Burdhubo. The poor communities in urban, IDPs and semi-urban areas cannot afford the private health services since they have no regular sources of income; hence, they rely on essential health services supported by Trocaire.
Medical equipment is a vital component of hospital care delivery. With support from multiple donors, Trocaire procured and distributed across Dollow, Luuq, Belet Hawa, Garbaharrey and Burdhubo several expensive medical equipment for maternal, neonatal and child health care such as infant warmer, oxygen concentrator machines, respirators/ambu bags, infant incubators, monitors, blood bank and anaesthesia machines. However, the medical equipment is not always optimal because of poor management and maintenance coupled with over-utilization and inappropriate use of this equipment.
The overall objective of the assignment is to service, repair and assess medical equipment in Luuq District Hospital, Dollow Referral Health Centre, Garbaharey District Hospital and Belet Hawa District Hospital.
